Nature-Based Therapy

Nature-based therapy involves using nature as a partner in the therapeutic process. Sessions are held primarily outdoors to facilitate interaction with the natural world as a way of improving self-regulation of mental health symptoms. Sessions are unique and experiential. One session may be focused on finding a personal safe space in the forest, and another may be walking to a vista and practicing mindfulness strategies. Therapists may engage clients in specific nature-based activities to encourage self-discovery, stress reduction, emotional regulation and reflection.
