Outdoor Family Time

How often are we fully present with our children?  Take a moment to think about it. Most of the time we are hurrying from one place to another making sure that we have all the physical items our children need to participate in an activity.  But what about emotional needs?  How many times have we said, “uh-huh”, to a story without really listening because we are thinking about the next thing that has to be done?  Consider what happens when you spend time with your family outdoors; your focus changes, your mind becomes quieter, you slow down.   Technology can be put to the side.  Listen to the creek together and then listen to each other, really listen with no distractions. Research shows that just a 20 minute walk outside together can increase connectedness.  Explore an outdoor place today and experience something special with your child.
